60th Birthday

Hello ...

My best wishes to all my friends across the pond who are commemorating Memorial Weekend ...
Here in Liverpool we are remembering the Battle of The Atlantic and the port is full of ships ... There are many stories and memories being told  and of course there will be wreaths laid for the fallen ... My father served in the Royal Navy during this period - he was only a youngster really ...
How I wish we could all live in peace ...

One of our male friends is celebrating his 60th Birthday in a couple of days ... Here is a card I made for him

Over at Shopping Our Stash there is a challenge to use a tool in our stash ... either never used or long forgotten ...
I have a Crop A Dile big bite and whilst I regularly use it to punch holes ... I have never been sure just how to use it for eyelets etc., I bought it second hand so the full instructions were not with it ... However, I discovered I could download them from the web (why didn't I think of that before) and gave it a go to attach the brad you see on the star

One problem though ... I didn't manage to squash the back flat without damaging the front slightly hence the gem stone lol!
I guess I'm missing something ...

Why is it that instructions these days seem to be in the tiniest of writing? Have you noticed that? Try holding a magnifying glass and punching a brad at the same time ... Heck I can't even see the little numbers on the tool! I guess you could say it's old age

Have a wonderful weekend

Till soon

~ Ros ~

This card is a masterpiece! So many elements... I love them all... the candle, banners, twine and of course, your brad. I laughed when I read your saga of the Crop-a-dile. I bought one and lost the directions and after a year of messing up all my eyelets discovered, like you, that they could be had online. Now I use it nearly every day... who knew!
Ros, if you e-mail me your address, I'll be happy to send you the bags. Just let me know the color... black, white, kraft... there are others but I'm not sure of shades. It's time for some happy mail, right?
Hugs!

Beautiful card, Ros, and yes I lost my instructions as well and had to download the same file! I do love the eyelet in the star. My father was in the Navy as well, he served on board escort ships in the Mediterranean during WWII and on a battleship during Korea! I am with you, there should be peace! god Bless you and have a wonderful weekend.

LOVE this guy card with the FAB banners and my FAV paper peeking out! LOVE your brad! I use my tool to punch holes only, too! Maybe you can fly over here and show me! Is that a real candle? LOVE this very special 60th card!

Lol, I pictured that, you holding the magnifying glass while wrestling with the brad :)

My youngest is fascinated with wars at the moment - he is lucky to truly not understand why they happen, and it's incredibly difficult to explain. If only we could all remain that open-minded as we got older.
I absolutely love the blues & collage style you've created with! And the perfect gems & shine. That little candle is so perfect!
I don't have a Crop-A-Dile but I share the grouch about directions! Either I lose them, or they're in tiny print, or they just make no earthly sense! Despite all that hoopla around it I'm glad you dusted it off & came to play with us at Shopping our Stash :)

oof! i sooooooooooo hear you re the "small print"... it's DEFINITELY getting smaller, as is that on MENUS, too, and the lighting in most restaurants leaves MUCH to be desired, lol!!! also, my father was right: young people totally *DO* mumble!!!!!! :) :) :) ah well. :)

none of which takes away from this ♥♥♥GORGEOUS♥♥♥ card which your friend... and everyone else who sees it... is sure to ADORE, and i predict it will be displayed proudly until he's nearly 61!!! :) brilliant use of the crop-o-dile (which... yeah... they are tricky to get just the right "touch" on, but the gem is PERFECT there!!!) and thanks for "SHOPPING YOUR STASH" with us sooooo beautifully this week! ♥♥♥
