Watercolour

Good morning!

Well the weekend has started and here in the UK it's a bank holiday weekend which means the roads are going to be very busy! So far it's dry and sunny which is unusual for a UK bank holiday - fingers crossed it stays dry.

I have another birthday card made for a friend who celebrates her birthday in a weeks time - This one is a watercolour done with distress paint and stains

...in my happy colours

It's really sparkly when the light hits it too
I used a piece of the water coloured CS to cut out 'Sending' then cut more in ordinary CS and stacked them before adding glossy accents

I hope you have a wonderful weekend ...

Till soon

Purr-fect Day

Hello there lovely people...

How has your week been? I've had a few crazy days ... I started to make a DT project on monday and try as I may it just wouldn't go right and it seemed that everything I touched fell to the floor ... I even broke a glass ... Tuesday was not a lot better - I did get the project done but then I managed to drop a whole box of neatly sorted sequins on the floor... Oh yeh, my hoover is sooo sparkly right now.

But my friend Pat came yesterday and it was a purr-fect day!
I made a start on some cards for friends of mine who have birthdays in September

I absolutely love the colour of the Sea Glass Avery Elle ink as I'm sure you've noticed, and I started by sponging a circle on my base card and then stencilling the stars with embossing paste and glitter

I cut out the circle for the front of my shaker and stencilled that too in sea glass ink ... same with the balloon but I used some new pink inks from Mama Elephant ... I love them!

The kitty is from Newton's Nook...

Thanks so much for popping in ... I hope you have a purr-fect day!

City Crafter 276

Hello and good morning!
Kirsty is hosting this week's challenge over at

The theme is World Traveller

The challenge is to create a card or project inspired by the photo

I took those suitcases as inspiration together with the traveller theme to create my project

Two little suitcases ... One is an album

I love the travel theme so pulled out some old papers and bits and pieces from my stash to make a little album of our last trip abroad

The album fastens to look like a suitcase

...and then fits into the larger suitcase which I part cut on my cameo ... I just cut the sides on the cameo and made the box to fit in between

The lovely Suchi is Guesting again with us ... You can find all her creations by visiting her blog Here
And this week's winner will also have a guest spot with us at CCCB

As always the team have more inspiration for you up on the City Crafter Blog, we hope you'll play along with us

Have a lovely day!

Stairs

Hello and good morning!

Stairs is the new prompt over at Our Beautiful World this week, chosen for us by Manuela

These stairs lead to the first floor of the beautiful 16th Century Born Hotel in Palma Majorca ... We stayed there several years ago ... It's decor is stunning but there are no lifts and we were on the top floor! I tell you we were breathless once we got to the top!

Palma has lots of stairs! These are some at Palma Cathedral

Yeh, that's me peeking around the corner... And me sitting on more stairs in the town

The next photo is of some pretty tiled stairs in an apartment block in Lagos Portugal

I actually have a bit of a phobia about stairs... I don't like heights and perhaps that's part of it so a huge nightmare for me is trying to climb the stairs to board a ship

I mean they don't look very safe do they? I can't even begin to tell you how hard it is for me to get on these... My heart pounds, I get dizzy and often just freeze... It's not pleasant and this is only a small ship ... I confess it took me 4 days to pluck up the courage to even get to the top deck

But one of my favourite photos regarding stairs is this one of Sophia on our Liverpool ferry ... I have no problem with these stairs

Hop on over to the Blog to see what my friends are sharing this week and why not link up your photos of Stairs too?

Have a beautiful day and thanks so much for stopping by

Emboss Resist

Good morning!

I'm waiting for my lovely great nephew Ross to come pay me a visit today... It's been a while since I last saw him so I'm excited!

I have a little one layered card to share using the emboss resist technique that I made for nothing in particular

I masked of my card first and stamped a floral image in Versamark before embossing it

Some soft sponging and a few splatters

...and some gold sequins from my friend Stella

I hope you have a great weekend ...

Till soon

A Blue Day

Hello there ...
It's a sombre day in my city today as we say farewell to Cilla Black a homegrown talent who died recently... The funeral is only 5 minutes away from where I live and will be attended by a host of celebrities...
Cilla started her career here in the Cavern alongside The Beatles so I grew up to the sounds of the Mersey Beat ... It seems like the end of an era...

On a happier note,
I have a card to share that I made to send to one of my blog friend across the pond using the WPlus9 Doodle Buds Stamps once again and some soft sponging

The stencil I used is by Memory Box called Wave

As you can see I cut the flowers from card that I had stencilled on too

I hope my friend likes it ....

Have yourselves a lovely day

Till soon

City Crafter 275

Well happy Tuesday to you all!
I hope your week is going well ...

Today at City Crafter my dear friend Stella is hosting for us with a terrific challenge called
Around The Corner
And the inspiration photo Stella chose is just as terrific

The challenge is to create a card or project using just one corner and leave the rest blank

Here's my card...

You know, I've seen and admired lots cards around that features this technique of dressing up just one corner ... when I came to do it I found it difficult to know when to stop Lol!

So after stamping a few dots I just pulled out some scrap bits and put them together

Funnily enough I used the colours from last weeks challenge ... I just love them!

Our Guest Designer this month is the lovely Suchi ...Hop on over to her blog and check out her beautiful creations

As always our team at City Crafter have created some wonderful inspiration for you and we're looking forward to seeing what you come up with this week

Have yourself a wonderful day and thanks so much for your visit

Here For You

Hello there!

I've been playing around with inks... practicing sponging - what I was aiming for was a stormy sky... It's a scene that's been in my head but trying to translate it onto a card is another matter ... I am by no means a trained artist, I just try to learn as I go.

This card isn't meant to actually cheer someone... It's more to say "hey, I know how you feel - and I'm here for you"

I used a torn piece of paper as a mask to blend my inks and as AAA Cards has a Masking challenge

I'm hoping that this will qualify

There are many times in life we just feel alone...tossed by the storm and that's what I was trying to capture... Maybe practice will make perfect one day

Still I'm pleased with this effort and you know, if you squint and tilt your head ... It would make a good cover for a book Lol!

Kind of funny the things that go around in one's mind  but at least I got this one out

Have a beautiful day/evening - We've had lovely sunshine here in the UK
I'll be back tomorrow for the new challenge at City Crafter, till then be safe

Vacant

Hello!
I can hardly believe another week has flown by and it's time for a new word prompt at

This week I've chosen the prompt and it's
Vacant
Way back in May this year my husband and I took a trip to Majorca... to catch some sun and relaxation
Unfortunately for 3 of the 5 days we had rain and cool temperatures and though the hotel was quite full, the sun terraces were vacant

Not one seat taken and no one on the balconies

Even the lovely sun beds overlooking the sea were vacant

The pool was still... Umbrellas closed against the wind

Even the outdoor restaurant area was vacant

I'm hoping to go back maybe next month and keeping my fingers crossed that the sun will shine!

Check out the photos the rest of the team have come up with this week on the Blog and share your Vacant photos with us at

Have a lovely day and thanks so much for stopping by

Hello

Hello there ...
The week has flown by and I've had no time for creating this week ... I do however have a card I made a while ago using WPlus9 Doodle Buds

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice some very old Basic Grey DP here... I love the autumnal colours in this paper and it's one I've hoarded

The leaves are just coloured with Promarkers and I used quite a lot of  liquid pearls ... something else that I haven't used in a while ... trends quickly change in the crafting world

I like the fact that though the card looks dimensional, it is quite flat and therefore mailing will be easier

Have you had a good week so far? I hope so ...

Enjoy your day and I'll be back soon

City Crafter 274

Hello!

I'm hosting the new challenge over at City Crafter today
For the challenge I have chosen a collage to inspire you which was created by the lovely

These image really captured my heart ... made me think of days gone by... British beaches, salty breezes, shell collecting and the muddy grey waters that often match the sky

The challenge is to create a card or project based on the photos
You can use any of the elements - Shells, houses etc, or maybe just pick out the colours or even create a beach themed project

Here's what I came up with

It kind of speaks for itself really....

Sponging, stamping... a little white paint smeared onto some torn DP

I got that little stone from my garden and coated it in glossy accents

For the next 3 weeks we are happy to welcome a Special Guest Designer to CCCB the talented Suchi ... Please click on her name to go visit her lovely blog...

I'm really looking forward to seeing your creations this week ... you always amaze me!
If you are looking for more inspiration go check out the rest of the projects by the City Crafter team Here

Have a lovely day
